The City of Miami is always under construction and development since Henry Flagler was enticed by Julia Tuttle, and Mary and William Brickell to bring the railroad south from Jacksonville. Flagler’s railroad finished laying its tracks in 1896, and Miami became a city. Now, 34 villages, towns and cities.
We visit South Beach, Ocean Drive with restaurants and bistros. and the whole “Beach Experience.”
On the mainland, we pass Bayside Marketplace with fabulous shops and kiosks. The complimentary light rail onsite crosses the Miami River onto the fabulous Brickell Avenue, and the international financial district.
We pass Vizcaya,the Italian Palazzo estate and down to Coconut Grove, the historic Bahamian fishing village, with its charming streets.
On to Coral Gables representing the architectural dream of George Merrick with it's lush foliage and mansions. The “City Beautiful”, with the Biltmore Hotel, and the community’s Venetian Pool must be viewed.
Little Havana is next and a cafecito, Cuban coffee, if time permits before reaching our final destination of ship, airport or hotel.
City tour may be combined with the Everglades on request.
